Smile when you’re eating that doughnut :)

So I am back in school for my 2nd year!  And once again I am just in awe of my teachers and what knowledge they bring to the class.  I am like a sponge and try to soak up everything I can.  One topic we spoke of is enjoying fattening foods.  Don’t feel guilty for eating that comfort food when you need it.  Why do we call it comfort food?  Well it goes back to the days when we were babies and we would breast feed.  Breast milk is full of fat and have you seen a baby after they’ve eaten???  How big is their smile or how fast asleep are they?  Do you know what food item resembles most of breast milk?  Ice cream!  Now I’m not telling you to have it every night, but don’t feel guilty when eating it.  Enjoy it.  Feel good.  Eat it slow and savor every bite!

Here’s an interesting study on cholesterol and rabbits that was brought up in class today.  This study gave the rabbits on the left side of the room a cholesterol lowering drug.  The right side of the room rabbits did not receive this drug.  Both groups of rabbits were given the same diet that was high in cholesterol.  Well after the allotted time to check the rabbits and the cholesterol levels, they were dumbfounded on why the rabbits on the right side of the room didn’t have higher cholesterol levels than the rabbits on the left side.  They could not come up with any conclusions.  So they started interviewing people in the office to see if there was anything they could find out.  See if anyone was tampering with the study.  Everyone denied of tampering with anything.  Well they asked the cleaning lady who cleaned the cages at night if she ever saw anything.  She said no and started explaining her routing at night.  She said she would come in, let the rabbits out of the cages as she cleaned them, and as she put them back she would pet them and just love on them because they just were so cute and cuddly.  She wasn’t allowed to let the rabbits on the left side of the room out of their cages because they were the control group.  Well what the scientists figured out was, the rabbits on the right were so happy and loved that their bodies were digesting everything properly since there wasn’t any stress which does cause tension and constriction inside the body!!!

Yes it might sound crazy to you but heck I believe it!  I don’t deprive myself of doughnuts or ice cream or a snickers bar (my fav) when I crave it.  But I know when I’m eating it…I am enjoying every morsel, every bite, every lick of my lips, every swallow, just everything about that moment.  And I’m smiling the whole way through…but I smile through yoga too!  🙂

To your health and smiling!

Julie

  1. I am feeling so much better about all of the Halloween candy I am consuming! Wait… I am not supposed to replace meals with candy bars?… Hmm….

Curried cauliflower looks delicious! I have been making a curried chicken dish lately with tons of veggie and my kids and Jon love it! Scarlet and Rhode pick out the chick peas, which just makes me totally happy!
